First off, if you think your Math is shotty improve it! Brush up on your Algebra, Linear Algebra and geometry. They will help you catch up on those at the school but there is no reason to not try and be prepared. As for the programming if you have time look into Lua, Python or Java, just something to get you thinking in code. It isn't a big deal that you don't have experience I didn't when I went.

As for the fullsailsucks stuff, these people had bad experiences with the school I'm assuming because they didn't put much into it. The school is what you put into, if you work hard they will help you learn and make great contacts. I got 3 job offers on leaving the school so I don't think it was a scam :p

Yes you get weekends off.
I lived at an apartment complex called Berkshires about half a mile from the school.
I wouldn't say paying off loans is easy, you have to know how to manage money, if you know how to do that then yes it can be easier.

I am planning on going to Fullsail...eventually for game dev. My only programing exp. is in HTML and my Math is a little shotty. Do you think I'd make it? I heard a lot of negatives especially where fullsailsucks.com and other "full sail is a scam" threads and sites. Those have barely dettered me but I just wanted to know first hand and in the school, you get weekends off, right? Also, where did you live during your time there and now, if I'm not mistaken, that you have a job, paying off the loans is easy, right? Any other info you can give me is helpful. I want to know as much "insider info" as possible before making to commitment. Right now I am at Job Corps. in Mass. so anything has to be better lol. Thank you very much in advance ---Seth

Hey JW,

The focus of the talk was a panel of three recent hires in the game industry and how their process to get interviews and how the interview itself went. The presentation should be up on gdcradio.net soon. I know for people who had an all access pass they can watch the video of it now on the site.

As for the most important thing from GDC, I would have to say networking for sure. I met so many awesome people this year that are involved in this fantastic industry. A part from the networking and parties I would say my favorite session was probably the IGDA Round table I worked or the last session of the Casual games summit.

What was the focus of your talk? Would you be able to post your presentation or other materials in a new post?

Finally, here's a biggie for ya, from someone who sadly could not attend this year: What do you think is the most important thing you learned/experienced at GDC? If you had to pick, which was your favorite session overall?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Hey Grant,

It's taken me a while to get around to reading these posts, but I'm very glad you shared your GDC experiences! Which postmortems did you see at the CGS, and what were the key features of making great casual games? That could probably be a blog post of its own :)

Best Regards,
Jeromie
